A Conference relies very heavily on sponsorship and the LIANZA Centennial Conference is no exception. FromĀ speakers and social activities to pens and chocolates; from satchels and badges to furniture and cyber lounges. Without the support of the sponsors the conference costs would be very prohibitive and probably beyond the pockets of most organisations.
As a centennial conference there are a couple of special events happening and so special mention must be made of the National Library for sponsoring the registrations and celebratory lunch for the retired LIANZA members and the LIANZA Otago/Southland Region for sponsoring the Centennial Celebrations and the launch of the LIANZA book on the Monday evening.
A full list of sponsors will appear in your handbooks. So support them and let’s say thanks to them all for making the Conference what it is.

The Trade Exhibition is a key component of any library conference and 2010 is no exception. Over 50 Exhibitors are coming ready to display their wares, to talk to the delegates, to tell you what is happening and what is coming up, and for most of the vendors it is a great opportunity to catch up with their existing customers all in one place. I am never too sure who is the most exhausted at the end of a conference the exhibitors or the delegates?
Limited space in the venue meant the original planning was for a very small trade exhibition, but it was not to be. The response from the vendors was so overwhelming the Conference Committee had to think outside of the square to accommodate all the requests for space. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing how it all works – especially that chandelier!
The Exhibitors are already in conference mode – everything has to arrive in Dunedin this week in readiness for the Conference opening. Delegates will get their first opportunity to view the Exhibition at the Conference Welcome Reception on Sunday night.
Only 5 more sleeps to the Centennial Conference opening …..
